Dental Implants

Single Tooth Replacement Using A Dental Implant

Dental implants are ideal when a tooth is beyond repair. They are the best at replacing a tooth and providing a natural look, feel, and bite.

The Procedure

Before you are able to get a dental implant, we must first make sure you are a good candidate. X-rays and examinations will be done to determine gum and bone volume/health.

Once we confirm you are healthy enough for the procedure, the implant will be surgically inserted into the jawbone. This may take up to six months to fully heal. During this healing time, we will provide a temporary replacement tooth. Depending on the type of implant, a second procedure may be needed to put in the extension that the crown will attach to. After a couple of weeks of healing, the crown, specially created to match and fit perfectly, will be attached to the implant.

Your jawbone heals and fuses with the implant. This allows for extra stability and support that is especially helpful when eating and talking. Although the teeth are artificial, they still require brushing and flossing like regular teeth.

Healthy gums are essential for dental implant surgery. On top of that, it is also important to have good bone support for the implants. Keeping up on oral hygiene is extremely important to keep your implants healthy.
